Weekly Planning

Weekly planning is an essential part of the coaching week to ensure that all the key coaching points are documented into an organised schedule. For more competitive teams and for older age groups, the weekly plan is built around the previous and upcoming game days.

Weekly plans are created by the lead/head coach and are best created during a meeting so that all members of the coaching team has some input. A weekly plan must follow topics that have been set out in the teams season plan or follow themes set out in the club coaching curriculum.

Ideally, the weekly plan should fit onto one page, so that it is easy to read during the week. It should be kept brief and all the details of the training exercises will be found on the session plans. Using digital platforms is a great way to create, store and share session plans. Canva, Microsoft Office Excel and Apple iOS apps are just a few examples of great platforms that are easy to make weekly plans.
